Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence is the capacity for recognizing our own
feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for
managing emotions effectively in ourselves and in our relationships
(Goleman, 1998, p. 317).
Emotional Competencies
An emotional competence is a learned capability based on emotional
intelligence that contributes to effective performance in all aspects
of life and in multiple environments including at home, work, school,
or other social contexts.
The Emotional Competence Inventory -- University Edition (ECI-U) is a 63 item self-assessment questionnaire that measures 21 emotional competencies organized into four cluster/clusters: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, and Relationship Management. After completing the ECI-U, an individualized profile and interpretive notes will be generated. The profile will detail your strengths and areas for improvement across these four cluster/clusters of emotional competencies.
